The Diwali season, in the months of October and November, is generally the most active and vibrant part of the whole year and a lot of Indians look forward to celebrating it with friends and family. Gifts are an essential part of this season and with most people, young or old, moving towards smartphones, the Indian market has a lot of options to choose from. Here we list the top 10 flagship smartphones that will be up for grabs in online sales, this Diwali.

Diwali is probably the best time of the year to buy a smartphone in India.

1. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

With the launch of the latest generation iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are expected to take a substantial price cut, as the online retailers fight to offer the lowest prices this season. While you shouldn’t expect too much of a deep discount, the 16GB variant of the iPhone 6 will definitely go around the vicinity of 35,000 rupees (it is currently selling for 37k on Paytm after cashback) and the same variant of the iPhone 6 Plus might sell at 42,000 rupees.

These prices seem like more of a bang for the buck compared to the official pricing of the iPhone 6 by Apple India, starting at Rs. 52,000. With Apple’s extremely reliable iOS environment and a brilliant 8MP iSight camera, you can’t go wrong with gifting the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to your loved ones.

2. Motorola Nexus 6

The Nexus is known to be the poster boy of all Android flagships and the price has usually been kept low by Google every year to let users experience the stock Vanilla Android experience. With the Nexus 6, from last year, the company went all out and created something that most other OEMs wouldn’t even dream of. Selling the 6-inch device in India at a starting price of Rs. 44,000 didn’t attract many buyers in the first half of 2015.

Now, the official price of the smartphone is down to Rs. 29,999 on Flipkart, with more price cuts, expected near Diwali. If a 6-inch phablet is your thing, Nexus 6 is the best option out there in the market currently. It is definitely snappy in performance and the Quad-HD screen is really crisp, we can vouch for that.

With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and 3 gigabytes of RAM, the One is still highly relevant and a great option for users looking for a close to stock Android feel.

With a great battery life, a customizable Cyanogen Mod OS and a unique design, the Oneplus One might just be the Diwali purchase that you had been stalling for quite some while. Even better, online marketplaces like Flipkart and Amazon are sure to offer some kind of discounts on the smartphone, with it being quite a hot selling product for them across the whole of 2015.
