You use your smartphones and tablets for various purposes other than just making calls. A lot of apps installed on the devices are running in the background all the time to provide you the necessary information as soon as they are available. So it is important to make sure that these devices don’t run out of fuel. To achieve this, a phone with a big battery is what you need.

Sadly, these days phone manufacturers are in a race to make the slimmest and the lightest devices. This doesn’t leave any room to fit a big battery inside the device which could last all day. Add to this, the powerful processors and high-resolution screens which are there to provide a better experience. You start your day with a fully charged phone and by afternoon/evening you often find yourself running around to find a power outlet. But worry not, there are many power banks available in the market which can charge your devices from 0 to 100 percent, multiple times.

A power bank is an external battery which comes in a case. It can be connected to the smartphones and other gadgets using a USB cable. You can charge the power bank using a power adapter just like you charge your phone. They are portable and lightweight so it’s easy to carry them in the bag. Power banks are not very expensive to buy and come in various capacities. It is important to buy the right one for yourself depending on how much of a power user you are.

Here a couple of points you should keep in mind before buying power bank:

  • A power bank’s full battery capacity can never be utilized to charge the device since some of the battery is lost due to the heat produced.
  • A milliampere-hour (mAh) is 1,000th of an ampere-hour ( Ah ). Both measures are commonly used to describe the energy charge that a battery will hold and how long a device will run before the battery needs recharging.
  • The power banks with higher capacities weigh more because they have more batteries inside the casing.
  • If you are planning to buy a power bank with capacities 10,000 mAh or more, you must get 2A (Ampere) charger to recharge the power bank faster. Or it will take at least 10 hours to recharge them (10,000 mAh) with the standard power adapters you get with your phones (usually 1A). Make sure that the power bank supports an input of 2A otherwise the 2A power adapter is no good.
  • Mostly power bank with high capacities (10,000 and more) come with an input of 2/2.1A.
Similarly, while buying a power bank with ports having an output of 2/2.1A make sure that your phone supports it.
  • The power banks usually come with a USB cable but no power adapter to recharge the power bank.
They usually have one or two USB ports to charge up to two devices at once. Keep in mind that the charging speed decreases when two devices are plugged in at the same time.
